Celebrating St.Elias in the church square
A day of gratitude and traditional celebration
On the 21st July, the priest of the village celebrates an evening mass at Saint Elias’ church. A traditional church bell ringing contest between the locals takes place, to see who can ring the bells louder and longer.
Locally made, tasty Lebanese sweets are displayed on stands in the church square.
Joyful music and the festive atmosphere attract the locals from the surrounding villages for this event. Many households also celebrate by lighting fireworks!
