The past of Palestine in this fascinating city
The history of the old city, from the Canaanite period through to the Ottoman era, British mandate, Jordanian Era and Israeli and Palestinian Authority One of the most important archeological sites in Jaba’a is the old city. It is said that Jaba’a village is one of oldest villages in Palestine to have been inhabited and rebuilt.
The old city and its extant buildings date from the Roman period, the remains of which are still present in the old Roman city. Also, there is a 1000-year-old mosque, one of the Mosques of Omar in Palestine.
Today the village has 1,200 residents, who live in houses far from the homes of the Old City, which contains about 20 houses. Among these are the remains of buildings from the Roman era and houses destroyed as a result of natural factors, which began to draw the attention of the local residents to demand the protection of the historical village landmarks from disappearing.
